You will write on ONE of the following topics. The essay will address a policy challenge and require the student to suggest a possible ‘nudge’ and design a test for its effectiveness. The gym of an Uni offers free weekly personal training sessions by physiology students. If they were finding significant numbers of customers would sign up to the programme but then often not turn up, wasting the time of the trainer, what are two possible ways they could address this (one drawing on conventional economics and another drawing on behavioural science ‘nudges’) and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? How could they test which is the more effective approach?
