Under more ordinary circumstances, preparing for and taking a final exam in this course would present an opportunity for synthesis and integration of themes, ideas, and content related to conceptual science, science and worldview, and popular science as a genre. We will still pursue this goal, but will replace the in-person written final exam with a two-part final assignment. I expect that completing both parts of this assignment will lead you naturally to take some time at the end of the semester to ponder the big picture of this course, as well as some of the details.
The first part, in this tab, is to write a reflective essay of approximately 3-4 pages, discussing your thoughts about what you have learned in this course and how it has affected your thinking about basic conceptual aspects of science; about the intersection of science, philosophy, and worldview; and about popular science as a genre.
