TASKS: You will be presented with articles, data, facts, and research findings through this class and will be asked to utilize your critical thinking skills regarding the readings, and prompts. Throughout the course of the semester, ten writing assignments will be posted in relation to the various primary sources that we will read. Out of these ten (10), you must pick one (1) to complete. The writing assignment must be submitted using APA style to Blackboard. The specific ten writing assignments (in which you pick 1) are found within learning unit 15 within Blackboard.
CRITERIA: The paper must include an APA cover page and at least (7) references. Note: Blogs, education sites, commercial sites, Wikipedia, About.com, editorials, and book reviews are just a few of the types of materials that not acceptable for this exercise.
Prepare and submit a minimum (5) page paper including the body (3 pages), coversheet (1 page), and reference page (1 page). The paper is to be your original work and written solely for this course. Students should not include an abstract and the paper is to be the student’s original work and written solely for this course. Direct/block quotes are not allowed. The student must paraphrase and cite sources. The use of personal pronouns is not allowed. A rubric that will be used for grading is located within the “Welcome and Orientation” section of the learning units as well as examples of quality papers.

Write a reaction to Lincoln’s annual message to Congress delivered on December 1, 1862. What topic is most important? What does Lincoln say about it? What does he seem to be most concerned about? Include any other issues raised in the speech that you find significant.
