using track changes. The paper should include six sections:
1. The population
2. The country, regional, or community context
3. The national government, policy organization, NGO, social movement, or
community-based organization responding
4. The policy or practice in response to the population need
5. The impact of the intervention (positive and/or negative)
6. Conclusions and recommendations
Relevant information to include in section one might be a general description of the population
need over time, the specificities of the population need in the context that you are studying,
and a discussion of complexities of the situation. Section two might include information about
the mission, goals, and history of the implementing entity (government, NGO etc.) as it pertains
to the population need. Section three might include a description of the actions taken, details
of the response strategy, and how the organization works with others. Section four should
include a critical analysis and evaluation of the impact of the intervention, including
observations about what was effective and what was not. Section five proposes
recommendations, including modifications to the strategies adopted, its viability, and how to
scale it up.
Population Need: What is the population issue you are addressing? What data do
we have on this issue?
b. Regional/National/Global/Community Response: For your specific case study on
this social issue, which region, country or community are you focused on? Which
entity (government, NGO, policy organization, social movement, communitybased organization) are you examining and what is its background? What is the
policy, program or intervention that you are examining? To what extent has it
been successful (or not)? How do you know?
c. Conclusions and recommendations. What do you conclude and/or recommend
based on this study?
