The critical reflections on your community-engaged work is intended to give you the opportunity to connect these experiences to course material. Your essay should have three elements:
1. Your observations on your interaction and description of your activity
2. Reflection on your personal experience, thinking about such questions as:
What did you expect before starting?
How did your experience relate to your expectations?
What surprised you?
What did you find particularly interesting?
What new questions emerged for you?
3. Pay attention to the organization’s “strategy for social change.” Is it explicit or implicit in the way their work has been presented to you so far? What scale of change is the organization seeking (change for individuals? change for communities? systemic change?)
4. How does your community-engaged learning intersect with course materials in recent weeks? Cite at least one topic discussed by Prof. Staub in lecture and at least one reference to recent course readings in relation to your community partner site. Discuss these lecture/reading references in relation to your experiences and observations at your community partner site.
