Below are the instructions (This is also listed as a separate PDF):
In this project, you will be conducting a comparative experiment or study such as those in
Chapters 8 or 9 (I will provide below) in your textbook. As a topic, you may choose from your work, school, or home.
Where ever your data comes from, it should have relevance to someone other than
yourself or your group.
You can generate your own data from a sample or a survey.
Here is a step-by-step guide to completing the Statistics Final Research project:
STEP 1: QUESTION: a) What question are you thinking about asking for your final project? b) Which statistical test will you be doing? c) Research the question and find the claim for that question.
Come up with your research question
You need to come up with a question you would like to ask people to answer.
-The question should be one that requires a Yes or No answer OR a number response. I
recommend that you choose a question that you are passionate about or interested in.
-The question also needs an established claim that you can research and find. For example,
1) If you wanted to ask people, “How many cups of water do you drink a day?,” you need to
research how many glasses a day the average American drinks per day. According to,
http://www.livestrong.com/article/338496-the-average-consumption-of-water-per-day/,
the average American drinks 13.4 cups per day.
2) If you wanted to ask people, “Do you wear glasses, contact lenses, or other reading
or visual aids.?” you need to research what percent of people wear glasses. According to,
https://www.cbs.nl/en-gb/news/2013/38/more-than-6-in-10-people-wear-glasses-orcontact-lenses, 61% of the population wear glasses, contact lenses, or other reading or
visual aids.

EXAMPLE!!!
To start the final project you must come up with a question. It can be:
a) YES/NO question. This would be from Chapter 8 (1 prop z test or 2 prop z test). Then you need to research that question to find out what it is “supposed” to be.
b) Question with a number response. This would be from Chapter 9 (T test or 2 sample T test). Then you need to research that question to find out what it is “supposed” to be.
An example or SAMPLE:
QUESTION: a) What question are you thinking about asking for your final project? b) Which statistical test will you be doing? c) Research the question and find the claim for that question.
a) Do you wear corrective lenses?
b) This will be a 1 Prop Z Test
c) According to Vision Impact Institute (Links to an external site.), 75% of Americans wear corrective leans

STEP 2: Follow the below worksheet to complete the project
See the detailed worksheet on the next page for instructions to complete your project.
*I recommend a document where you list each question and answer each one completely.
