Write a paper that discusses an ethical dilemma facing the character(s) in one or more of the three films: Fist of Fury, Shaolin Temple, The Legend of Drunken Master.
An ethical dilemma is usually understood as a complex situation that often involves apparent conflicting options and choices. The person caught in this dilemma will have to make a decision which is “unpleasant” in the sense that it will have both positive and negative consequences affecting him/her and the people associated. An example of it would be Chen Zhen’s decision to seek revenge from the Japanese karate school in Fist of Fury or Jue Yuan’s decision to forgo love for Buddhism in Shaolin Temple.
In your paper you should first identify the ethical dilemma from the film, give it a full account including the plot development that leads to its occurrence, explain the options available, and comment on the decision made by the character. Your paper should conclude with an analysis of the outcome in the context of the entire film.
You must have a title in the format such as this: Film Title in Italics: A Short Phrase of Your Own. For example, “Shaolin Temple: Love or Buddhism for Jue Yuan.” Double-space with standard margins. Submit it online under the folder “Paper One” on D2L.
