Case Study Scenario:
You are employed at the State Department of Health, and asked to lead a task force (with 8 members from various departments) with development of a policy, program, project, and/or intervention based upon what is needed for the state. It has been some time since a thorough assessment and vision for health promotion for the entire state has been completed. You are given a budget of approximately $25,000 to determine a topic on which to focus with one priority population within the state, develop an plan, pilot the policy/program/project/intervention, and evaluate the process to for refinement before rolling it out to the entire state.

Provide a description of your priority population.
Discuss the specific population on which you are focusing. Provide a thorough description of the population that is of priority focus and rationale for selection.
Provide a description of the health issue that is to be addressed.
Provide a review of and synthesis of pertinent literature on the health issue as it relates to your priority population.
Give at least 3 different sources for this information.
Discuss the specific health problem/issue.
Discuss the relationship between the biological pathway and the major behavioral factors influencing the disease process and/or health outcome.
What are behavioral factors (knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, actions)contributing to the health issue?
What are nonbehavioral factors (various determinants or factors, mainly in the environment, in people’s behavior that are influencing the health problems) contributing to the health issue?

Discuss social and cultural behaviors of the population, including relevant positive and negative factors related to the behaviors.
Explain how cultural and social behaviors serve as risk and/or protective factors for the priority population contributing to the control and/or occurrence of the health condition.
