Determine your main points that you are going to focus on. Since our essay is extremely broad and ask us to analyze how women’s roles in society have changed from the late 19th century to the present. Make a list of changes for women in our time versus that of the 19th and 20th century.Example: right to vote, inclusion in the work force, inclusion in the military.( your list can exceed 3)
The list created in number one is going to become our potential list of main points for our essay. Now is the time to research and see what has been written on these topics. Find at least 2 articles on each point of your list (these articles do not have to be scholarly)
After reading the articles that you used for number 2 identify 2-3 points of interest in each article. These points of interest will be potential evidence that we can use in our paper in the form of quotes, paraphrases, and summaries.
Now we need to find an academic source. From the university home page scroll down and find and click the tab for the library then click the tab for databases a-z. The database that I recommend you use is academic search complete. Once we are in academic search complete we can type our key words in. (Remember to scroll down and ensure that the peer reviewed and full text boxes are clicked). Repeat step 3. With the exception of finding only 1 article. Our academic source will provide credibility to the points we are going to make in our essay.
Now that we have our sources we need to decide which direction we want to take our thesis. Given our prompt we have 3 possible options: The social status of women has either progressed, stagnated, or regressed in the 21st century.
Based off of the points we feel the most strongly about, we want to list those in our thesis. Example: The social status of women has greatly improved in the present and is evident by strong female representation in the workforce, the reversal of traditional gender roles, and female presence in politics.
