Now that you have participated in this course and your community health rotations I would like to hear your thoughts. When we first started this course some of you had some community health experience and knowledge. Some of you had very little understanding or experience. It was my goal to provide you with learning and community based opportunities to expand your understanding about community and public health.
Again, you can share whatever you would like, however please keep in mind that you will be given the chance to provide anonymous feedback (at a later date) about me, lectures, clinical rotations, clinical faculty, and other resources I’ve provided. This is a space for you to share whether your understanding or interest in community health has changed or been expanded by this course.
Please answer the following questions and reflect on this semester.
1) How has your understanding of community and public health nursing changed (if at all) during this course? Which lectures, resources, or experiences influenced this understanding?
2) What was the most surprising or impactful thing (if anything) that you learned this semester?
3) How will you use this semester’s experiences, readings, and conversations in your nursing career moving forward? How do you feel it might influence your understanding of how you care for your patients regardless of the setting you work in?
4) Did you find that any part of this course was interesting enough to propel you to engage in ways you had not previously considered in nursing? For example- do you see yourself more interested in engaging in policy or political work around community health considerations like climate change, housing, or racism?
5) Many nursing programs around the country do not include community health as part of the required curriculum. Do you agree with this? Or do you feel that community health is an important part of a nurse’s learning? Why or why not?
