Reflect on the Frontline documentary Firestone and the Warlord, that you watched about the economic interaction between a country from the global North (the U.S.) and the South (Liberia). For your paper you should, (1) describe the case, (2) fully explain and apply 3 related concepts covered during this semester (including previous modules if you like) that pertain to the case. This should constitute the vast majority of your paper. Even if you can apply more than 3 concepts, limit yourself to writing about only 3 concepts so that you can develop them in depth rather than writing about 4 or more topics, but only in a superficial manner. Additionally, (3) explain whether you think the US government should have acted to involve itself in some way to a greater degree in Liberian affairs involving the forces of Charles Taylor and/or Firestone. Show off what you have learned, while remembering to cite properly for ideas or quotes from the e-text, lectures, or videos. Since citing the “Firestone and the Warlord” documentary can be confusing and tricky, use the following format if you cite from the video for footnotes or your bibliography. If you use parenthetical citations (in-text), report the citation as (Miller and Jones 2014).
