What is the paper on? Write an essay that makes a higher order claim about one of the stories or poems in the textbook and support this claim with analysis. For example, you could pick one poem that we have read so far and explore what makes it a great poem. This means that this kind of response should directly address why this poem is great. Make sure that it examined and analyzed the techniques that it uses in order to support the claim. You should also pay careful attention to the author’s word choices (diction), structure, syllabic count and stresses (IE Iambic, Trochaic, etc) as well as any other area we examined in class. You may also want to discuss the movement the poem comes from. This does not mean that you must use all of these in your analysis but examining them will help you understand why the poem is great. Also, please incorporate at least one (1) outside critical source from the EFSC databases. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN APPROPRIATE OUTSIDE CRITICAL SOURCE YOUR PAPER WILL RECEIVE A ZERO. Make sure that your essay is making a higher order claim about one of the stories or poems in the textbook and support this claim with both your original analysis and the outside source information. Make sure to integrate examples from both the story (or poem) and the critical source properly. Make sure that you are following proper MLA parenthetical source citation. If you do not remember how to do this please ask me as points will be deducted for improper citations. There should also be a works cited page that lists the story or poem and the critical source.
