South Asia is an area of geographical and demographic significance for more than half of the religions we study in this course. The Partition of 1947 was a historically major event that affected religious communities forever in this region. Using what you have learned about the Partition in this course, choose a topic that relates to the Partition and an issue of significance for religious communities in South Asia today. You may choose to do a film review or book review, as long as I approve the film or book in advance. You may also choose to write about an issue that has been created by or exacerbated by the Partition- for example, religious nationalism, the dividing of religious homelands, or the status of minority religious communities (e.g., Muslims in India, or Sikhs or Hindus in Pakistan).
