A couple of years after the pandemic started, we are seeing some significant shifts in the world of work. A study by McKinsey from September 2021 shows that a record number of employees are leaving their companies or are thinking about resigning. Some of the main reasons for that “great escape” are around “do I feel valued by my organisation?”; “do I feel valued and acknowledged by my manager?”; “do I feel a sense of belonging with my organisation?”; “can I have autonomy and flexibility in my workspace?” McKinsey (2021) Great Attrition or Great Attraction? You are a Human Resources consultant and you have specialised in advising organisations on how they can effectively create a renewed sense of purpose and belonging and be successful in attracting and retaining talent. You have been tasked by a new client, (The Company), to strategically advise them on how to manage that change successfully. To complete this assessment, you are required to do the following: In the first part of your report (circa 1,800 words), you will provide an analysis of the strategic importance of attracting, developing and retaining talent (including why investing in Diversity, Equality & Inclusion matters), and the impact leadership has in influencing a company culture. In the second part of your report (circa 700 words), you will provide an overview of (The Company)’s current HR challenges and recommend changes and/or new initiatives it could implement to successfully attract and retain talent, and create a renewed sense of belonging. You should evidence your arguments with academic theories and recent case studies.
