For this journal entry, you will use examples from your own life (in work or at school) to describe what motivates you and what doesn’t. Then you will select a motivation theory discussed this week that explains why you were motivated or not motivated.First, take a moment to think about examples in your own life where you were motivated and other times where you were unmotivated. For example:Do you need to “get something” for your work to be motivated?Do you need to feel you can do something to be motivated to do it?Do your goals (personal, career, etc.) motivate you?Are you motivated when you feel someone is getting more recognition or pay than you?Come up with at least two examples for instances when you were motivated and at least two examples of when you were not motivated. Add a brief explanation of the situation to the provided table under the proper category (motivated = green, and not motivated = red). Within your explanations, be sure to address the following:For the instances where you felt motivated: What about the situation motivated you?For the instances where you did not feel motivated: What seemed to deplete your motivation?Next, for each of the examples that you provided in the table, select a motivation theory that appropriately explains why you were motivated or not motivated in the situation. Under the column “Theory that Applies and Why”, write the name of the theory and explain why it is related to that particular example. You may download this document and upload your answers. Please add rows if you need more space to describe your experience – this space is only meant as a starting guide for you.
