Teachers Instructions:
Each paper will be a critical review of the literature surrounding the selected topic. You will need a minimum of SIX “peer-reviewed journals.”
The general pattern of essays will be – introduction, review of literature (what it says), critical discussion of literature surveyed (incorporating your own analysis), and a conclusion (what are the “gaps’ in what you have seen, what should be next, etc.)
Introduction serves as context and background of question
A critical discussion may include how the literature fits into the field of study, what problems the author is seeking to address, academic implications, policy implications, how the various sources deal with similar issues, etc.
Formatting – standard 12 point font with one inch margins, double spaced, word
count (before works cited) listed at end of paper.
Do not use – Passive Voice, Quotes (especially long quotes). Please, that means no quotes. My goal is to
evaluate your writing and ability to synthesize information.
Do use – a relationship between variables – you are explaining and not giving a history.
Description/history might say – the number of lethal terror attacks has gone up/down
Explanation – Number of lethal terror attacks has gone up/down – WHY?
