Guidelines
You are to identify a clinician at your place of
practice who you have worked with within your mental health practice and
complete a critical analysis of the leadership that they provide. As part of
this you will need to include a case study that effectively illustrates the
clinician’s leadership style in action.
You will need to analyse your chosen clinician’s
leadership style, including an overview of their style(s) of leadership.
Provide examples of specific actions, behaviours and/or communication. You will
need use relevant literature to support this analysis.
You will need to provide a critical and reflective
discussion around the strengths/limitations/consequences of the clinician’s
leadership style (as discussed in the preceding section).
You will need to provide at least four
recommendations (derived from the discussion presented the preceding two
sections) that would reasonably be expected to contribute to improving the
quality of the leadership provided by the clinician.
You should include an introduction and conclusion
to your work.
You must provide a comprehensive reference list
presented in the APA 7th edition referencing style.
Assessment
structure
Your report should include the following
items.
Assessment cover sheet (use
the template provided).
Introduction (150
words). Introduce your assignment, clearly stating your aims and outlining
your key goals.
Leadership case study (300
words). Provide a case study–style narrative describing an episode of
leadership (you could choose to do one larger episode or 2–3 smaller
episodes if this works better) that illustrates the leadership being
discussed in this assessment. These will be used to provide a ‘real world’
vignette for the leadership that can be used as examples in the subsequent
sections.
Analysis of leadership style (600
words). You will need to identify and analyse your chosen clinician’s
leadership style, supporting this with relevant literature to support your
analysis. You will also need to provide examples of specific actions,
behaviours and/or communication. Your analysis must be supported with
relevant literature.
Critique of leadership style (500
words). You will need to deliver a critical and reflective discussion
around the strengths/limitations/consequences of the clinician’s
leadership style (as identified in the preceding section). Your discussion
here must be supported with relevant literature.
Leadership recommendations (300
words). For this section provide 2–3 recommendations (based upon from the
discussion presented the preceding two sections) that would reasonably be
expected to contribute to improving the quality of the leadership provided
by the clinician. These recommendations must be supported by relevant
literature.
Conclusion (150
words). Conclude your paper by providing a summary of your key
points.
Reference list. All
references are to follow the APA 7th edition referencing style. Students
are encouraged to paraphrase sources of material using their own words
wherever possible. Excessive use of direct quotes may result in a
decreased grade. Non-acknowledgement of other authors is considered
plagiarism according to University policy and will result in a fail grade.

Hi, the leadership style is an easy going, laid
back approach leadership style. The type of style I would like you to research
on is a clinician that is very supportive and caring. The clinician takes pride
in being knowledgeable and expereience. Takeing pride in being uo tp date with
policies etc. Plus, the clinician is
very calm and easy going. Good to have in a psychiatric ward. The clinician is
very appoachable and everyone feels comfortable talking with the clinician.
Could you mention, their role is Associate Nurse Unit manager. Weakness: Additionally,
this clinician trys to avoid conflicts with nurses, and often is a people pleaser.
Often, cares about peoples opinions etc. Often trys to resolves any conflicts
if possible.
