Research Paper Format Requirements Spring 2022
These are requirements for the research paper and must be followed. Any deviation from the requirements will result in a loss of points and a lower grade.
Only your paper’s body will count towards the word total – headers, notes, and so forth will not be counted
Excessive use of quotes – i.e. not your own words and writing – will result in a deduction of points (this is lazy writing and simply a means of adding to a word count … been there and done that, so I know)
Sources
This is a History paper and needs to demonstrate historical research, this applies to your sources
You cannot use the assigned readings or documents from our course; new research is required
Academic books and journal articles, along with primary sources, are the only accepted sources you may use in writing your paper (E-materials, EBooks and EJournals, are legitimate sources)
You may not use general websites such as the online encyclopedias (Wikipedia and so forth) or generalized history sites (ex. history.com)
Only websites that are presented to and approved by the instructor before the submission of the final draft will be accepted; these should be from academic institutions (.edu) or museum and historical society sites
Citations
Chicago Style citations will be the only acceptable citation style for this paper
Citations must be endnotes
You will not need a works cited or bibliography page, the endnotes will be sufficient
