Refute an argument proposed in a political speech on a controversial issue that is relevant to today’s American society. Be sure to look for: the use of fallacies/rhetorical device (pathos), assumptions of the audience, evidence that is lacking which would weaken/strengthen the argument, stated and/or unstated assumptions, alternative explanations/accounts/perspectives, etc.
***Remember, this is not about you. You are not attempting to impose your own argument; rather, you are attempting to analyze and refute someone else’s argument.***
