Poetry Response Paper Rubric
Directions: All papers must be 2-3 pages. In the following table, please find the criteria by which your paper will be scored and the points allotted to each part of the rubric. This paper will be worth 40 points.
Thesis Control: Paper exhibits strong thesis and control of topic and voice is clear. The thesis or point of view is refreshing and engaging. The point of view is appropriate and consistent.
Support and Development: Strong detail and clear examples lead to consistent and refreshing development. Transitions move the paper with clarity and precision. Provide at least three quotations and two paraphrases.
Style, Grammar, and Usage: Writing is virtually free of style and usage errors.
Mechanics (capitalization, spelling, italics, quotations): Relatively free of errors in mechanics.
MLA Formatting: Conventions of MLA are followed consistently and properly throughout the paper.
