Write a paper on Chinese Economic Development Term PaperThe topic of the term paper is to discuss the following points:
● Why can China no longer continue to grow along the past track of relying on exports?
● What should be the right new growth engine for China?
● Assess critically how China performed in 2012-present in that light?
Your paper is expected to reflect what is covered in my lectures. You also need to expand the
substance of your paper with your own research and readings. You need to consult three additional
academic references at least, preferably academic journal articles or their equivalents. You may use
sources in Chinese, but you should provide both Chinese titles and their English translation. A
significant positive factor for demonstrating your knowledge and scholarship would be to annotate
your bibliography, summarizing the contents and arguments of the sources you have used for your
paper.
Follow strictly the APA citation style
There is a title page and a separate page for an
abstract.
● The main text body should have minimum four and maximum five pages, excluding the
title page, the abstract page, reference pages, and tables and figures pages.
Personal Suggestions for writing ideas(hope it helps): .
1. Introduction:
To make some general descriptions, you can talk about the development process of China’s economy in combination with the historical background
(From central planning to market economy, China’s rapid economic growth since the reform and opening up, etc.)
2. Body paragraph 1:
Discuss the first point of the request (the help the export industry has brought to China’s economic growth in the past, what is the current situation, and the continued dependence on the export industry) What problems will it bring to the Chinese economy)
3. Body paragraph 2:
Discuss the second point of the request (what are the power sources of national economic growth, what are the power sources of China’s economic growth in the past, what are the power sources of developed countries, and the growth engine in order to transform to technology/human capital? What China needs to do)
4. Body paragraph 3:
Discuss the third point of the request (a large degree of freedom)
(Note, “Assess critically”, it is possible to briefly mention China’s remarkable economic development since the third stage of reform and opening up in 2012, but the focus should be on the areas where China is not doing enough, such as the gap between the rich and the poor, Unbalanced urban and rural development, etc.)
5. Conclusion/Summary: briefly summarize the above three points, and give solutions from a macro perspective (in order to make China’s economic development more healthy, what should the Chinese government do)
