Teachers College President Thomas Bailey and Senior Research Scholar Davis Jenkins wrote for the expansion of New York City’s College Now dual enrollment program. The authors said that New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Schools Chancellor David Banks have the opportunity to broaden the reach of the program. The program is available in 470 of the city’s 520 high schools and one of 13 students simultaneously earned CUNY credits while attending high schools in 2019, according to The New York Daily News. What are your thoughts on the proposed expansion of College Now? What does the program consist of? How does it help high school students? Do you think that expanding the program will have a positive impact on high school students? What kind of impact would it have on CUNY? Do you think dual enrollment programs are beneficial and should be open to more students?
