First find an appropriate transcript of a trial from John Jay’s “Criminal Trial Transcripts of New York County Collection (1883 – 1927)” which can be found using this link:(https://www.lib.jjay.cuny.edu/special-collections/trial-transcripts). Access the website on a JJ computer or by connecting to the JJ library from home. Either link in the first paragraph will lead you to the digitized cases. Scroll through the different cases, click on “About the case” to see a little more information and to see how many pages the transcript is. Choose a transcript that is at least 50 pages long. After having read through the transcript, answer the following questions:
1. What is the time period of your trial? Use the “Introduction” section of the relevant chapter in your textbook to give a brief history.
2. What is the crime on trial? Provide a brief summary.
3. What is the argument of the defense? Select at least two quotes to support this.
4. What is the argument of the prosecution? Select at least two quotes to support this.
5. What are three (3) main themes addressed in the trial (some examples: class, race, gender, morality, alcohol use, etc.)
