The purpose of Brief Paper #2 is to help you develop the second chapter
of your dissertation. We will cover the elements in Module 3. Remember
that your submission should be in essay format since it will be a major
component of your chapter 2. Please note that your Brief Paper #2 should
be at least 10 pages long (not including references and appendices) and
contain the following elements. I have attached the grading rubric below.
In the literature review, you shall include the following components:
o Includes thorough coverage of literature that is relevant to the topic
o Reviews theories from previously conducted research studies.
These theories can be foundational theories that have historically
influenced both developmental education and the area that you are
studying or contemporary theories that have strongly influenced
research.
o Review of the literature is critical, organized (thematic or study-by-study), and coherently synthesized
o Major themes from the literature are identified
o Review identifies the relationships of the problem to previous research
o Paper presents the current study’s role in extending the literature
