of Disability in the Public Sphere

The goal of this assignment
is to capture ways in which disability is included and excluded, made visible
and invisible. You will capture a snapshot of disability in the public sphere,
such as disability access or barrier, disability representation, or disability
culture. This should be an artifact or representation that you will analyze
from a disability access lens. You can take a photo, a screenshot, an audio
recording, or use a material object, choosing an aspect of the built, digital,
and/or sensory environment. Some examples are an aspect of the built
environment such as a staircase, a physical object such as a cell phone, a web
page necessary to purchase a product or perform a required action, a sound used
to provide information such as train announcements, or an advertisement in a
public space that includes people with disabilities. Feel free to be creative
and out of the box with your choice. Some examples of previous classes include,
but not limited to: Food menu with pictures and writing (barrier for people
with visual impairments); AMC movie theatre seats designated for individuals
with disabilities; Twitter (using a tweet on ADD, Autism, ADHD) as a platform
for discourse on and for neurodiverse individuals.
Your paper
should include:

image/representation being analyzed

Describe
the significance of the image/representation in how it exemplifies or
underscores disability access/barriers/representation/culture and how it shapes
disability and perceptions of disability in the world; help us understand how
disability is included and excluded, made visible and invisible
3)
Your
personal reflections of the image/representation being captured.
You will write
a 2-3page analysis of the image/representation from a disability access
perspective. Use APA format and double space your paper. Papers should be
submitted on Blackboard.
