Objective: Differentiate between the essential structures and methods for small (Sunday school) groups and large groups.
In the process of teaching and learning, it is important to understand the full spectrum of the nature of teaching, the nature of learning, church-based models of learning, and the characteristics of effective teaching and its challenges.
One of the challenges to effective teaching is being able to differentiate what structures and methods are most effective in small groups versus large groups. While there are some teaching methods that can work effectively regardless of the size of the group, there are others that are best or ideally suited to specific structured groups.
Does Size Matter Paper-
Read Chapter 12 of Children Matter and write a 2-3 page paper to indicate and differentiate what structures and methods are most effective in small groups versus large groups of children.
To achieve maximum points for content and analysis, the following elements need to be thoroughly addressed.
Using the various stories, examples, and methods presented in Chapter 12 of Children Matter, indicate which format they would fit better into, the small group or the large group. In the event that it could be either, indicate what special considerations or challenges need to be addressed for the respective situation.
Consider insights from Edgar Dale and David Kolb on learning theory and if the application of such is dependent upon the size of the group.
Address age and developmental levels of the children involved as an impact factor in this discussion.
Provide at least two sources. If you cite a dictionary it will be in addition to the required two sources. The Bible is not to be listed on the References page but does have to be cited in-text.
