“Teaching Children and Youth about Community Planning and
Development”
Task: To develop, and provide an evidence-based justification for, a lesson plan or teaching
tool related to the field of community planning for Primary, Junior, Intermediate and/or Senior
students.
• Your lesson plan or teaching tool can be about community planning and development
in general, a particular type of planning (e.g., transportation, land use, etc.), or even a specific
planning issue (e.g., active transportation, affordable housing, inclusive communities)
• This might take the form of a written document, one or more educational videos, a webbased project, or any other format so long as it is approved in advance by the course
instructor
• You must also include a 2-3-page justification supported by academic evidence
Your paper should:
• have an introduction and conclusion
• have a reference page
• be double-spaced
• use a 12-point font
