In Week 3 Tutorials, we will discuss following this example: click here Download herefor an “exceptionally detailed and thoughtful” media analysis from 2007. As the example indicates, we are looking for a 24-hour diary of media usage, which should outline your typical, everyday engagement with internet-based and other media technologies. As you construct this timeline, in which you log your daily media habits, you should take the opportunity to reflect on the relationship between your “online” and “offline” selves. Is your self-conception and self-presentation influenced by network technologies, and if so, how? You may want to highlight one “piece” of media, one app, or one media portal, and you can even describe your reaction to a particular example of media. Alternatively, you may want to reflect on the architecture or interface of a platform you commonly use. Your mark on this assessment will be given out of 10. In addition to evaluating how you organise your data and tabulate your habits, we will also be assessing the depth and thoughtfulness of your reflection, especially your focus on how the self is a networked entity, on how what’s online interacts with what’s offline.
