The first paper will be a minimum of 3-5 pages. ( I want to pick SOCRATES) The objective of the first paper is to take one of the philosophers studied to that point, and to place them within the current context. That is, to analyze a contemporary event, idea or social/political situation using the framework deployed by the historical philosopher (i.e., what would Plato say about the trial of Chelsea Manning?), and determine what they might think of the contemporary moment. In other words, dont ask But is this still relevant to the current time, our time? Instead ask, what would this philosopher say about us and our society, if he or she were magically transported to the here and now?
