This paper is the continuation of your essay 1. In essay 1 you have shared your personal experiences and came up with a research question/proposal. Now, you will explore the experiences of Other that connect to your personal story through interviews. In addition, you will have to find 5 sources for your annotated bibliography (2 can be taken from the course).
Interview Reflection: Interviews are also the sources for your research paper. You will need to include them on your works cited page.
You will need to select two people to interview for your research paper. You can choose anyone from your family, among your friends, co-workers, professionals, etc. – anyone who would be able to help you to answer your questions in your essay 1/research proposals. Do not anticipate answers; even the answers that you don’t want are still answers and can be still analyzed for your paper.

You will use these interviews as support to your argument/thesis or as a counter-argument. Create questions that would cover:
Your interviewee’s background and demographic information (whatever you feel comfortable asking).
The area/s of your interest/s (ask as many questions about your
argument or inquiry as you need). You should not be asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions. Be ready to improvise depending on the answers you get from your interviewees.

Your interviews should not be shorter than 30 min. (if it is less, it means you will not have enough info to collect for your research).

You will need to record your interviews so you can refer to them when you are writing the reflection. You can use zoom to interview and record it, or you can simply use your phone if it’s in person. Using just the audio would suffice (no need for videos). Before you start the interview, you need to record your interviewee’s permission. Simply ask “Do you give your permission to give and record this interview?”
In your reflection, provide:
the background information of your interviewees
the reasons why you decided to select this person
reflect on the answers and connect them to the main idea of your research
be sure to cite your interviewees

What is Annotated Bibliography?
An annotated bibliography is often used during the research process as a survey tool that investigates various sources that could possibly support, investigate, and/or respond to your research paper. You can use 2 articles/readings that were assigned in this course + 3 scholarly articles that you need to find on your own.
Use the following links to search for your own sources:
scholar.google.com
CSI Library Home (cuny.edu)
Search using keywords. For example, if you research the effect of nature on people’s well-being, use ‘nature and happiness’ keyword. If you are
writing about the effect of music, then try searching by the keywords ‘music and happiness’
In your bibliography, use your own words to:
• Address the problem mentioned in the source;
• Identify the main audience of the source;
• Identify the central theme (thesis) of the source;
• Find the main points of view, examples used and/or research conducted;
• State the major conclusions related to this theme;
• Offer critique of the study/methods/theory (if necessary).
Additional Instructions:
1. In MLA format, provide the information about the source as if it is taken from the Works Cited page;
2. Use signal phrases when you introduce the main idea, provide a summary, and use quotes (refer to Quotation Sandwich);
3. Write how this source connects to your research. In what part of your research paper, you would use it?
4. Provide quotes that will help you summarize the source and/or will be used in your research paper with your analyses.
