Week 5: Discussion – Choosing a Topic . This week you will select a topic for the informational speech you be constructing and delivering over the next few weeks. You may choose any topic that interests you! Assignment Instructions For this discussion, tell us the topic you have chosen, and which type of informational speech you will compose (Definitional, Desсrіptive, Explanatory, or Demonstration). Now, answer these questions to help you determine ways to orient your audience to the topic. How much information might your audience already have about your topic? What social or cultural influences of audience members might affect their reaction to your topic? How can your topic be made interesting if the audience has no knowledge or apparent interest in it? Are there any mental, physical, or emotional factors in the audience that may affect their response to your speech? What do you want your audience to understand after you have delivered your speech?
