Read this and respond to your professor questions an the end of the sentence. Also, I would encourage you to examine your language about autistic individuals. Many autistic people see their diagnosis as a special part of their identity rather than a hindrance (see this website for more of this discussion: https://autisticadvocacy.org/about-asan/identity-first-language/ (Links to an external site.)).
It is important as clinicians that we celebrate the uniqueness of people’s diagnoses instead of making them feel inferior to neurotypical individuals.
