The basic tenet of the psychosocial theory is that development occurs throughout life in a series of stages. Refer to the chart in the book. Based on your age, which stage of development does the theory predict you are currently facing? You may feel that the previous stage or the stage following better reflects your current life situation. Although you are reflecting on your life and answering the questions, be sure to tie your own example to Eriksons stages as given in the instructions. If you disagree with the stage that Eriksons theory places you in currently, tell me WHY you think that is the case and also provide one of the other stages as an alternative that you think best fits your life now. Give me examples for why you place yourself in this new stage. Developmental tasks are what individuals need to resolve at this stage (such as basic trust vs. mistrust) and psychosocial crisis relates to what they experience during that stage in the process of resolving the issue.
In 200-300 words, discuss your stage of psychosocial development by addressing the following questions.
1. Where does the theory place you in the life stages?
2. Do you believe that there is a close fit between the developmental tasks and psychosocial crisis and your current life circumstances? (It may be helpful to turn to the relevant chapter and briefly review the tasks and crisis.)
3. If so, briefly discuss them. If not, what stage better addresses your life stage? Remember that the ages in the theory are not set in stone. However, the stages are sequential; it is not possible to skip a stage. All stages influence those that follow.
This assignment still requires APA format within your content such as in-text citations in parenthesis within paragraphs and the reference at the end of your entry even if you are only using your embedded readings/textbook. You are still using content learned to apply to your own life you may write in first person for both assignments as it is a self-reflection as well. Instead of using quotes, write in your own words I need your understanding of the content, not quotations from the textbook as I can read them on my own : ) I have the citation and reference below if you are using the embedded textbook. Other approved research websites used (in your syllabus) also need to be cited and referenced.
