Creating a complete draft of your research paper. A presentation is due in Week 7 and the final paper is due in Week 8.
A case study is an in-depth investigation of a single individual, group, incident, or community. The purpose of conducting a design case study is to investigate a particular design project to help you understand the various aspects that you have to consider while designing.
You will conduct a design analysis case study about two structures from any historical or geographical time period that we are studying this session over the course of several deliverables. You will research each structure, analyze its design, and evaluate the built exterior and interior environments. The assignment content may vary from student to student depending on the chosen structure. As per the grading rubric, all students should:
Identify and analyze the design style and explore the ideas, theories, and historical/contemporary developments that have shaped the design style and elements.
Employ correct and relevant architectural and design terminology and vocabulary.
Formally analyze elements of interior design, furniture, & architecture, and consider the relationships between these various elements.
