A rhetorical approach to communication focuses on situations and audiences. This writing task will get you thinking about both.
STEP 1: Write a summary that describes how you want to remix the position you took in your position paper. This paragraph will serve as your “Proposal Abstract” (page 227 of your textbook).
STEP 2: Complete the “Analyzing Situations: A How-To” on page 234 of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph descriiption of the situation that you hope to change. Include your rationale behind your choice of situation. Remember that smaller-scale situations are often more easily changed.
STEP 3: Complete the “Analyzing Audiences: A How-To” on page 236 of your textbook. Write a description of the audience that you hope to target with your Remixed Position. Include your rationale behind your choice of audience. Remember that you will need to identify an incredibly specific audience that has the power to make the change you’re seeking.
