Discussion Question 12 Sunset Boulevard (Billy Wilder, 1950) Describe one or two particular scenes that clearly make Sunset Boulevard a film noir. Desmond is self-centered, controlling, egotistical, manipulative, petty and vicious. Yet, in the final scene, when she comes down the grand staircase of her home, thinking she has returned to a film set, her mental state now utterly detached from reality, we, the audience, are moved to feel for her, to pity her.
