Need: The use of “Narcotic Drugs” is an illegal drug, that can lead to an addiction, difficult to control despite harmful consequences which can eventually cause death if not controlled. According to the National Center for Drugs Abuse, (NCDAS) the research statistics show that “Drug abuse and substance disorders are more likely to affect young males, and is highest among persons between the ages of 18-25 at 39% compared to persons aged 26-29, at 34%. Potential negative consequence is “Death” if not addressed.

Need: Smoking is likely to harm men than female, men tend to use all tobacco products at higher rates than women. National Institute of Health, (NIH) shows the statistics in 2015, that 16.7 percent of adult males and 13.6 percent of adult females smoked cigarettes. Smokers are more likely than nonsmokers to develop heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer. There is a potential negative consequence if not addressed, Smoking can harm just about every one of your organs and it is associated with nearly one in five deaths in the US each year.

The purpose of this assignment is to give you experience writing and delivering persuasive speeches.

Think of a pressing public issue about which people have differing opinions, such as whether there should be more or less gun control or how we should address the opioid epidemic in Georgia.
