Global Issues Public Service Project Assignment – Due Date: November 28, 2021 Global Issues Combating Global Problems Student Course Expected Result Assessment Expected Result Statement: Completion of POLS 2401 – Global Issues will contribute to development of students who are engaged and informed global citizens, aware of global multicultural issues, and able to explain the differences among personal, social, political and economic decision-making processes at the state, federal and international levels of government. Students should be able to accurately answer the below questions. Short Assignment Background Information Political scientists have stated that “Although the study of world politics once concentrated almost exclusively on the political relationships between the countries of the world, today it involves a much broader range of activities and interactions-political, economic, and social-among these states and a wide variety of non-state actors such as international organizations, non-state national actors and ethnic groups, transnational corporations, nongovernmental organizations, and individuals. As time has passed, world politics has evolved to include an increasingly diverse set of states from the developed and developing worlds, a rich array of cultural perspectives and values held by states, nations, and individuals, and a great variety of non-state actors.” Global Issues Public Service Project Overview: Students will engage with people beyond those enrolled in this course in regards to bringing awareness to global issues, stemming from state and/or non-state actors, with consideration of avenues contributing to improved or resolved global issues. Universal Declaration of Human Rights Assignment Instructions Contact at least one person (family, friend, co-worker, etc.) to briefly discuss the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with and summarize the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with person(s) contacted. In particular, educate and seek insight from persons contacted in regards to two human rights that you believe are most important after reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Consider using examples of such human rights issues throughout the global world. Consider conducting independent research if needed. After discussing at least two human rights with persons contacted, students do the following: Individually assess whether or not if person(s) contacted were familiar with Universal Declaration of Human Rights before your interaction with them about these rights.
