Hey guys! The paper itself is already finished in a very rough draft form; most of which was initially written by you guys, but the essay in its current state is more of a summary of the book than a defined and clear thesis in response to the prompt. What I need is a final draft that is much less of a book summary and much more focused on providing and elaborating on the thesis. The book is very short and you do not need to read it entirely to respond to the prompt. If you do not have access to the book, let me know and I can send you a copy. I just need a little more length and a restructure of the essay’s content to provide a clear thesis that is referred back to throughout the body paragraphs. Here is the essay prompt again: Choose ONE character whose fate is uncertain at the end of the novel. Consider the thematic implications of the characters death and of the characters survival. Take a clear stance on which you think is more effective thematically. Discuss the conflict between personal and cultural identities as a theme in this essay. Characters to consider: Orvil Edwin Tony Reminders: For this course, a literary theme should be expressed as a complete sentence that takes a stance. Words or phrases such as internalized colonization” or “loss of innocence are topics; what the text reveals about the nature of the topic is a theme. For this course, a thesis-driven essay is one with an explicit thesis statement that directly answers the essay question/prompt. Please place your thesis at the end of your Introduction and double-underline it. Drafts that do not contain an explicit, on-topic thesis statement will not be accepted. In addition, thesis-driven essays contain clear topic sentence claims to focus each body paragraph. Drafts that do not contain explicit, on-topic paragraph claims will not be accepted. Please underline the topic sentence claim in each body paragraph. As always, your essay should integrate carefully chosen, properly cited evidence from the text and any additional sources you use.Show more
