Please tell me what play you would like to do and get permission from my professor before starting the assignment. Please look at the directions document and the document entitled theatre notes so you can see an example of one of his powerpoint presentations and see what he is looking for. His powerpoints are very text, picture, and video heavy so try to do similar in the powerpoint you create. For each slide please due bulleted points and write the information for each point in the notes section.
You will have to make a power point and a 2-3 page report on your approach to the presentation, a summary of your findings, and how well the assignment worked for you.
Directions:
For this assignment, you will find a play that was written during the time period that we are studying (the Greeks to the start of the 18th century) and research a revival of that play done in the last 50 years. For instance, you could pick Antigone or Hamlet—both written in our time period—and do some research on a production/revival of that play done more recently.
Your research will entail investigating how the play was handled and received. The main questions driving your research:
1. How was the play handled?
2. Was the play modernized or kept in its historical time period?
3. Was this treatment handled successfully?
4. How was the play received?
You will then present these findings in a PowerPoint. Your presentation will include information about which play you chose, who did the show, the actors and directors, and where you drew your research from. You will also answer the questions from above. Feel free to get creative and try to find images and/or any videos that might be available. You should have enough slides so people will spend up to 5 and 10 minutes going over it. That same week you will also turn in a 2-3 page report on your approach to the presentation, a summary of your findings, and how well the assignment worked for you.
All plays should be approved by the instructor. Greek tragedies, Shakespeare, and Moliere will be the easiest to find material on, but sometimes the less known playwrights will have a lot of information since revivals might be done less.
