As described in Chapter 8, social practices/institutions have two purposes: teleological purpose and honorific purpose (something is being honored or rewarded). A social practice or institution things like acffirmative action policies, the criminal justice system, sorotities, and even the distribution of wealth in this country.
1) Briefly describe a practice or institution that you belong to or simply exists in society, and include possible teleological purposes of that practice or institution (there are no right/wrong answers to this question).
2) State the possible characteristics that are being honored by inclusion in the practice or insitution.
3) Based on Artistotle’s view that a just society gives people what they deserve (make sure you understand what Aristotle means by ‘deserve’), is this institution administering justice?
