Instructions for the initial post,
Discuss the selected principle and how it applies to contemporary policing.
Provide a practical example to show the application of the principle.
I was given Principle 5, which says:
The police seek and preserve public favor, not by catering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolutely impartial service to the law, in complete independence of policy, and without regard to the justice or injustice of the substance of individual laws; by ready offering of individual service and friends ship to all members of society without regard to their race or social standing, by ready exercise of courtesy and friendly good humor; and by ready offering of individual sacrifice in protecting and preserving life.
I also need to respond to these two students on their pick of one of the 9 Principles. And I pick these two:
1. The number that I have chosen was number 3 which it states “The Police must secure the willing cooperation of the public in voluntary observance of the law to be able to secure and maintain public respect.” Basically the police need to secure the public in a orderly manner without hurting anyone from the general public. Because nowadays I have been seeing police taking this totally out of content when they need to follow law which is to protect & serve the community and bring each other together not against each other. An they are also suppose to security the scene without disrupting the area where there a event happening or something going there.
2, I choose 4 What this is saying is basically the more cooperation the police have from the public the less physical or excessive force is needed to perform police duties. An example of how public cooperation and trust could be achieved is by doing outreach programs, community events, or things that the public would have a chance to interact with the police on a more personal level.
