Type Component 1: Summary as header to this section. Under this type your response, it should be 3 pages. Your goal here is to show you can summarize the chapters main points for someone who did not read it. So try to rely on your own words, using and choosing quotes for maximum impact. No more than 100 words of quotes in all paragraphs.
Divide your work into four distinct paragraphs. Below is a description of what each paragraph should do:
Paragraph 1: Describe what you think is most important in the part of the chapter you think was the introduction (usually first two to five pages or part before the first section heading). What is the main story or idea here and how does it reveal the central themes, thesis, and/or goals of the chapter?
Paragraph 2: Summarize one important idea, term, or example in the body of the chapter (the middle section) that you think was central to the chapter. Be sure you describe this in some detail and address why you found this important to write about.
Paragraph 3: Summarize a second important idea, term, or example in the body of the chapter (the middle section) that you think was central to understanding the chapter. Be sure you describe this in some detail and address why you found this important to write about.
Paragraph 4: Relay an idea, term, or statement in the last pages/section of the chapter you think captures what the author thinks is important about what she has discussed in the chapter or points to her main conclusion. Be sure you describe this in some detail and address why you found this important to write about.
The last 3 pages should be the second component :
Your goal here is to show you understand the dark fantastic chapter main ideas enough to apply them to a TV Show or Movie you watch regularly, analyzing an episode or character of that show from the perspective of the ideas in your DF chapter.

Be sure you give a basic sense of the show for those who are unfamiliar with it, outline how this work fits in with the idea of the the fantastic as defined by Thomas, and discuss how the show is reflective of the genre covered in your chapter (i.e. action/adventure, princess/fairy tale, horror/vampire, fanfic/fantasy). Also be clear if your analysis is of the whole series or movie in general or if you are only looking at one episode, scene, or particular character(s).
o Paragraph two: Defend one observation about your example when read through a term or idea in your DF chapter. (You might consider: Does the DF chapter help you see new and different aspects of the characters or themes in your example? Does the show confirm and or challenge points in the DF chapter? Does the show add a new element to the DF chapter ideas? )
o Paragraph three: Defend a second observation about your example when read through a term or idea in your DF chapter.
o Paragraph four: Provide a clear conclusion to your work, summing up what you have uncovered and why it is important. somewhere in your conclusion you address what you have found most interesting in this exercise for exposing growth in your ability to more critically read representations of gender and/or women in general.
