Conduct a brief literature review on the topic that includes a short summary of the problem, the root causes of the problem, youth voices on the issue, and possible policy recommendations. The essay will describe the scope of the problem and identify factors associated with the issue (i.e., poverty, factional fighting, social patriarchal norms). The essay should explain the importance of the problem and provide suggestions for solutions. Include the following sections.
Background (1 pages): Provide a background on the problem. How is the problem defined? How large is this population of youth/children affected? Describe the social and demographic characteristics of this youth population (age, sex, gender, race/ethnicity, country of origin, education, and other relevant characteristics).
Root Causes (2 pages): Provide a literature review of at least 3 root causes of the problem that are most closely associated with the outcomes discussed above. These causes may be social, political, economic geopolitical or global in nature. Describe how each factor is related to the outcomes. Please utilize a minimum of 3 peer-reviewed (scholarly) articles to support your arguments on the root causes of the problem.
Effectiveness of Youth Activism (1 page): Utilizing your previous research on youth activism, summarize the extent and effectiveness of youth voices on creating awareness and action about the issue.
Policy Recommendations (1 page): Based on the root causes of the problem identified above and the voices of youth activists, make policy recommendations that would help resolve the problem.
