Reconciliation Australia states that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have long called for a comprehensive process of truth-telling about Australias history. Telling the truth about our history not only brings to light colonial conflict and dispossession, but also acknowledges the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures (2020, para. 1-2). Truth telling remains at the heart of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and therefore Reconciliation Australia encourages all Australians to get involved in local truth telling events (see for example< https://www.reconciliation.org.au/truth-telling-and-reconciliation/ (https://www.reconciliation.org.au/truth-telling-and-reconciliation/) ) Examine the role of a local event or Aboriginal led organisation in Sydney that engages with truth telling processes. Your response should examine the event or Aboriginal led organisation in connection with at least one theme from this subject (e.g. family, Elders and community, racism, education, employment, etc). (Please note: Local Indigenous organisations do not have the capacity to respond to the large number of students studying in this subject so it is best to use publicly available information and publications for this assessment).
