In Book 1 of 1984, Winston muses ″Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past″ – and I have to write ″to what extent does this stand true today.″ Ill put my current first paragraph for my paper here — In George Orwell′s dystopian novel, 1984, he creates a contemporary world where the government controls every aspect of a citizens life, including their beliefs and thoughts. In Book One of the novel, Winston Smith alludes to the fact that the Party alters every moment of the country′s history, and he states, ″Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past.″ While rewriting and eradicating history is an impossible task, an individuals perspective of past events will influence the actions that one will take in the future, and current events allow people to view past experiences differently, making both of Orwell′s statements stand true today.
