COURSE PROJECT:PROPOSAL ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS You will develop a research-based project using information obtained from various sources. You will focus on applying this information to the project. This type of assignment may be new for you since you may be more familiar with a research paper and/or a research project. Unlike a research paper/project, you will not only search through resources such as books, magazines, and journals, but you will also apply the information you collect into the development of a project. The key component to the research-based project is application. For example: If your topic were Substitute Folders, you would conduct research to find related information such as needs of substitutes, tips for planning for substitutes, etc. After collecting and reviewing relevant information, you would create a substitute folder that incorporated the findings based on your research. Research-Based Project Requirements Overview ?The topic is your choice; however, it must be related to the field of education. ?A lesson plan or a unit may not be used as a project topic. ?A minimum of 10 sources must be used. Three of the 10 sources must provide biblical integration (., . by Beth Ackerman, Kingdom Living in Your Classroom by Joy D. McCullough, etc.). ?The completed project will be assessed using the rubric provided. ?Project-related assignments throughout the course will guide you through the development of the project and bring it to completion. COURSE PROJECT: PROPOSAL The Course Project: Proposal will be the first assignment to help you get started with the project. You will choose a topic related to the field of education. Please note that each project must be a research based project that contains at least 10 sources and has a clear Biblical Integration aspect present also. You must select from one of the following topics (Unless instructor approval is given on an alternative topic): ?A professional development plan for other teachers (PowerPoint)?A Classroom Management Plan (should include classroom rules, classroom set up/organization, philosophy, behavior plan, etc…). ?A New Faculty Handbook (Must create an original handbook)? An Anti-Bullying Program for the School (Could include PowerPoint, website, etc… )?A Website to promote an educational issue (ex: Special education resources for parents). ?A Substitute Folder What is NOT acceptable: 1. Lesson plans and/or unit plans 2. A research paper or essay 3. Surveys and interviews are not allowed and should not be included in the project. Once you have selected a topic for your project, you will develop and write a proposal explaining what you plan to do for the project. The Proposal should be written using the template provided and address the following: 1. Statement of Purpose: State what you plan to accomplish with your project. 2. Rationale: State why you chose this project topic. How does this project fit into the broad area of education? 3. Research-Based: State what sorts of journal and/or article information you will use to complete this project (., what will you look for? What connection does your project topic have to current issues? What current issues need to be addressed with your topic? What issues do you perceive you will research?). 4. Projected Application: Explain how you plan to use your research once the project is completed. 5. Description of the projected outcomes: State what you think will happen as a result of completing this project. Keep it specific so that you can document whether or not it occurs.
