Choose one piece of music you like and one you don’t and explain why you have formed that opinion. In explaining your opinion compare the two works and use the terms and concepts we discussed this semester as much as possible. For example, if you really like the sound of a jazz band write about the different instruments used in that ensemble. You may choose a song if you wish so long as you keep your focus on the music and not the content of the lyrics. Though the words are an important part of a song, the purpose of this assignment is to focus on music. However, it is valid to discuss how the music is written to help enhance the meaning of the words.
