Part 1: Discussion Initial post
Introduction: Membrane transport refers to the collection of mechanisms that regulate the passage of solutes such as ions and small molecules through biological membranes, which are lipid bilayers that contain proteins embedded in them. In our lab class, PhysioEx activities will sometimes be used to help visualize physiological processes. PhysioEx can be found within Pearson’s Mastering A&P. It consists of virtual simulations of laboratory experiments designed to help you investigate the physiology of specific systems. Students should pick one of the following activities and address:
Activity 1: Simulating Dialysis (Simple Diffusion)
1. How does PhysioEx show diffusion and explain how diffusion is dependent on solute concentration?
2. How does PhysioEx show the relationship between molecular weight and molecular size?
3. How does PhysioEx relate solute concentration to the rate of
