(1) Introduction Ph.D. supervisors are very clear that RP is only the most basic material for a doctoral introductory. In the process of doctoral research, many things in RP, such as theoretical basis and research methods, may change or even subvert. Therefore, RP does not require much precision, esoteric and grandeur. Its purpose is to show: 1) whether your topic/topic/case is novel, interesting, and feasible; 2) whether you have accumulated a certain amount of knowledge and research in this area 3) Are you serious about your attitude; 4) Are you ready for four years or more of research. 5) Let the teachers who are a little bit layman in the doctoral admission review team be able to understand basically. (2) The basic format and the content of each part. The basic format below is not a fixed format and does not need to be copied, as long as the RP contains the content listed below, but the structure must be clear and easy to read. The total word count is between 2000 and 3000 words (not including bibliography).
Provisional title: Introduction The main function of this part is to introduce readers to your research topic, so the content to include: the background of this research topic; how is the current academic research on this topic; current academic deficiencies on this topic The main function of this part of Literature review is to show that you have accumulated a certain amount of knowledge and understanding of the research topic, so it should include: combing related concepts, theories and research , Comparison, discussion; what are the controversies and deficiencies in the academic circles; and then put forward the academic research gap on this topic; the research questions in the Introduction section should correspond to this research gap, and make up for this gap by answering research questions.
Methodology This part is mainly to show what research method you want to use to complete this research, so it should include: What is the purpose of this research? Is it a quantitative or qualitative study? Is it a case study or an experiment? What are the research methods? How to collect data? Interviews, questionnaires, observations, experiments, second-hand data? How to analyze the data? Use related software? Use a model? What are the potential problems and difficulties? Ethical? In practice? How do you plan to overcome it? The Significance and Originality part is a summary part, mainly to show the importance and originality of this research, so it should include: What is the significance of this research? What contribution do you want to make? In theory or in practice? How is originality reflected? Provisional timetable This part mainly reflects whether students have a certain plan for their next four years or even longer research career. There are three style examples at the end of this document.
This part of Bibliography mainly shows whether you have read and collected enough documents, generally no less than 30; whether the format of listing the documents is correct, reflecting the serious attitude of the students; you can use https://www.scimagojr.com/ Check the ranking and quality of the journal; it is recommended to use the endnote software to do it. There will be a lot of references to sort out during the Ph.D. It will be much more convenient to use the software. (3) The font size of the research plan is 12; the subtitle is bold; the font chooses common fonts such as Calibri or Times, one font throughout the text; 1.5 times the line spacing; one line between paragraphs; text alignment selects “justified at both ends” Use the add page number function to add the page number in the center position at the bottom of each page Use the add page header function to add “(name)-PhD Research Proposal” in the center position.
